Our client, a GP Alliance, sought our help to provide a common, easy-to-interpret view of Alliance & individual practice activity. Real World Health was commissioned to help with the challenge of obtaining and combining data from the many GP practices, which were not using a common EPR system. Primary care is rich in data but not insight due to limited practice budgets & analytical capability gaps.
Engaging directly with practices to navigate the IG requirements, we built and deployed the Primary Care Activity Tool via our cloud-based platform, which allowed practices across the Alliance to access a shared view of their data. Containing a variety of views & modules, users can track trends, identify variation, and highlight opportunities for improvement, like optimising the use of telephone appointments. The Primary Care Activity tool helped guide alliance partners with demand/capacity alignment and helped to highlight predictable activity patterns Monday-Friday and seasonally. Efficacy and efficiency metrics within highlighted productivity movement and workload pressures on GPs, highlighting hotspots. Armed with the analytics, GPs could evidence that outputs have increased with WTE investment, which is not necessarily the case in other parts of the healthcare system.
The Alliance GPs can now act with greater assurance to evolve practice models in the ways outlined in the Fuller Report. Testing the impact of care continuity and aligning resources with local population health needs are all being made possible by the Tool.
